Tasty Tuesday and Savory and Sweet Options for Easter Dinner

Welcome to another Tasty Tuesday! This weekend is Easter weekend, and many people will be celebrating with a family meal. I wanted to bring back some fantastic options that we have had on the blog throughout the last year in case you would like to add something new to your holiday table!

But first, I want to thank Maribeth Schmidt for her help in so many of the pictures used in this post. She has provided so many beautiful pictures over the past year, and I am so grateful for the beautiful pictures she has provided. If you would like to see more of her work, or for an inquiry, you can contact her at Maribeth Schmidt Photography.

And now lets begin!

This week I thought I would bring back some delicious recipes that would work beautifully for an Easter dinner. These are also perfect options for any holiday dinner, but are particularly nice when served with ham, or in the spring like Mother’s Day.

First of all, I think a lovely addition to any Easter dinner is a Jello salad. Now to be honest, to me, Jello gets a huge break calling it a salad because it is sweet enough to be a dessert, but it has permission to be served right with the main course. And I am totally on board with that! And as a kid, I remember thinking Jello salad was about the tastiest thing ever!

It was always my Grandma Hammonds specialty. I can tell you the only thing sweeter than Grandma’s Pink Jello, was my Grandma! I imagine one day when I see her again in Heaven, she is going to come up and give me a big hug and a kiss, and shortly thereafter we will be sharing some pink Jello!

Also, there is a great recipe for Maribeth’s Cole Slaw, so cool and creamy, and you might like to include it in your holiday meal! I am thinking that is what I am doing!

If you would like to see the blog post about how to make Grandma’s Pink Jello, and the Cole Slaw, you can find it here: Grandma’s Pink Jello and Maribeth’s Cole Slaw

This is a salad? Are you kidding me?  I will take 4 servings please!

After all, I am trying to eat healthier… and its a salad!

Cole slaw… Yumm!

Doesn’t this look delish?

Making my mouth water to look at it!

Then as a nice hot side dish, you can add cheesy potato casserole! Talk about comfort food! This is a recipe that has been around for ages, and never gets old! If you would like to see the recipe click here: Party Potato Casserole.

Yesss! You made the Cheesy Potato Casserole! Scoop me up some of that cheesy goodness!

This is so good! I could just eat this and be happy!

I may eat some of this as a snack later tonight!

Now last week I also gave you a great side dish you might want to use, our family favorite green bean casserole that has been named “The Gutbuster Casserole”. If you would like to see that post again, for the recipe, click here: Green Bean Gutbuster Casserole.

The flavor of this is so exquisite. And it’s perfect with ham.

And finally, if you would like a fantastic dessert that is simply unforgettable, I highly recommend the Fruit Pizza. For that recipe, you can click here: Fruit Pizza

It’s beautiful! I’ll have that!

Am I dreaming? I didn’t know anything could taste this good!

It’s so light… maybe I’ll have just a little bit more! One with lots and lots of berries, please!

That will work!

Honestly, isn’t it so much fun to get together for a delicious meal with family?

I have memories as a child with the kids tables and the grown up tables from one end of the house to the other, tables wedged in any where you could fit them! I remember one time the grown up table ran out of rolls and Uncle Al wanted a dinner roll, and he hollered over to our kids table if we had any rolls left. We did, and my brother Kevin threw one to him. As he did, he sang out the line to a hymn, with a nice pun addition, “When the roll is caught up yonder!”  We all laughed and laughed, just the thought of actually tossing a dinner roll through the air from one room to the next makes me smile and remember how precious those times were.

We were so close as a family, and cousins everywhere, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, add in a dog or cat or both underfoot. Great smells from the kitchen, and the sense that my house is full of people I love and people who love me! Does it get any better than that?

But as sweet as those memories are from my childhood, we are making those memories anew with each gathering of friends and families. And someone who sits with you will mark this meal as one of their most precious memories because they are with you! And if you haven’t made your plans yet, all it takes is a phone call!

I know this blog brings lots of recipes to you, and I try to keep them easy, but sometimes you may simply not feel like cooking. You know what? That’s ok! Really! You can still get together and spend time with the ones you love! It doesn’t have to be a formal fancy dinner. You can order chicken or something else,  bring home pies, and put the coffee on. The real gem is spending time with someone precious to you!

I hope you have a wonderful Easter no matter how big or small, even if its just a table for one! You are so precious and dearly loved! I’ll be thinking of you with warmest wishes for a lovely Easter!

I’ll be back Friday for another Fashion Friday!

Have a wonderful week!

Love Always,

Amy
