Tasty Tuesday, Ranch Dressing and a Hearty Wedge Salad

Hi friends! It’s another Tasty Tuesday! And today we have a really tasty Ranch Dressing and a Wedge Salad!

Both my husband and I love wedge salad! It is just so hearty! And you can tailor it to your tastes! And making your own ranch dressing is just so good, so fresh tasting. So without further ado, let’s begin! We will start with the Ranch Dressing.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp fresh dill
  • 1 Tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 Tbsp fresh chives chopped
  • 1/2 cucumber, pared and minced
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp white vinegar
  • Dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Buttermilk about1/2 to 3/4 cup (to desired consistency

Begin by putting the mayo and sour cream in a medium bowl.

Add your minced garlic.

Add your parsley, chives and fresh dill, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and

Add in 1/2 cucumber minced.

Add in buttermilk till desired consisitancy. For me, this was about 3/4 cup.

Then add juice from 1/2 a lemon. This really brightened the flavor! Now for a little tasty tester.

Yumm!

Now you can enjoy your ranch dressing any way you would like! As a dip, or dressing. But today we are going to make a Wedge Salad to drizzle our lovely ranch drenching on.

Ingredients Wedge Salad:

  • Head of lettuce
  • 4 hardboiled eggs sliced in half
  • 1 small container cherry tomatoes
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 3/4 pack of bacon cooked and chopped
  • Blue Cheese dressing OR the recipe for ranch we made above.

Cut your head of lettuce in half.

Cut each piece in half again.

Take a wedge of lettuce and place on a plate.

Drizzle some ranch on the wedge.

Now we are going to “bedazzle” it! Load it up with tasty toppings.

Cherry tomatoes, bacon, scallions, hard boiled eggs.

Like toppings for an ice cream sundae!

Oh my word! It’s like a salad mountain!

I don’t know where to begin!

Ok, I whipped up some little garlic bread pieces of toast to go with this salad. Yumm!

I love this kind of meal because its really big, and healthy. (Well maybe not the bacon, but that is my favorite part!)

You dig into that wedge of salad and it feels so satiating!

Please sit down and pull up a plate! There is plenty for everyone! By the way, the garlic bread dipped in the ranch is ah-mazing!

This is a simple and delicious way to enjoy a salad. And this ranch has so much flavor, it’s like a party in your mouth!

It’s fun to try different things! And making your own salad dressing is such a great one to experiment with. I am going to try an avocado ranch dressing next time. There was a day when I wouldn’t have dreamed of trying to make a new dressing. It seemed like such a foreign concept… after all the grocery store was full of bottled dressing! But lately I’ve been much more adventurous with my cooking. Really our whole house is. And this was not that hard to make!

So what is next? Suppose we get bold enough to try all sorts of new recipes?

But why stop there… why not plan a trip somewhere new or take some lessons for something you’ve always wanted to learn? You could get serious about a decorating change! Or learn a new language.  Doesn’t that sound fun?

Maybe you have always wanted to start your own business. Or write a book. Or run for mayor in your town! There are all kinds of fun things just waiting for us to step up and reach out. It takes some initiative and some courage, but I know you will not regret taking steps towards a new dream!

I hope you have a fantastic week! I will be back Friday for another Fashion Friday!

Love Always,

Amy

  1. Love this post! I adore wedge salads. I had friends over for lunch yesterday and served tea sandwiches, my grandmother’sf cornbread salad and wedges of hearts of romaine, cherry tomatoes drizzled with french dressing and crumbled blue cheese. It was all so good. For dessert I made pineapple upside down cake. I so love to cook and love all your recipes!
