Fashion Friday and a Beautiful September

It’s Friday and the forecast is looking mighty fine!No matter what the weather, we always know Friday will be followed by Saturday and Sunday and that is something we can all get behind no matter what the weather brings!

I’m in a great mood, my son Shane is coming home this weekend! There is just nothing like having the whole family together! He comes home every couple of months, but this weekend is the U of Michigan Nebraska game! My husband Troy and the boys are going! Troy’s cousin’s son (Luke Gifford) actually plays for Nebraska, and my husband was born in Nebraska so we cheer for 2 college teams- Nebraska and U of Michigan! Both myself and my son Shane are U of Michigan alumni. So this is a game near and dear to our hearts!

So on top of all of that, I have so many fun things to share this week! Many thanks to my son Jake who once again rallied even with a very busy schedule, to help me with photos for this week’s blog. Jake is honing his skills in video and photography at school at Washtenaw Community College. I’m so proud of him! If you would like to see more of his work, you can follow him on his Instagram @jacob.kennedy21  or his business account @734rocious.

So this week I received another box from FabFitFun! This is the Fall Edition.

FabFitFun is a seasonal box that comes out 4 times a year for $49.99. But the box contents will retail for at least $200. This is my fourth box, and its full of goodies! It contains products with everything from beauty, home decor, health and fun! And they always come with a fantastic newsletter, and in an adorable box.

Even the box is specially designed. This box was designed by Clare Owen, a UK-based illustrator who took all of the things she loves about fall and designed them in the box. It is adorable, and I save all my beautiful boxes to store all sorts of things! It’s like having a designer box for each season!

Here are the contents of my box I just opened this morning!

I laid them out on the kitchen table for you below.

Here is the list of what’s inside the box I received for Fall:

  • Bright Pink Beauty Blender (retails at $20)
  • Simply Whimsical Tea Towels in gray and white (retails at $14.99)
  • Skin&Co Roma Blue In Capri Shower Gel (retails at $22)
  • Glamglow Deep Clean Mask 2-pack (retails at $18)
  • Alfred French Press Coffee Press(retails at $22)
  • Cylo Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds (retails at $40)
  • Grown Alchemist Polishing Face Exfoliant (retails at $67)
  • Touch in Sol Liquid Foil Duo Lipstick  (retails at $24.99)
  • Crown Brush 6 Piece Cosmetic Brush Set (retails at $75)
  • And a Luna Bar!

As a side note, I was thrilled to receive the shower gel. It is scented with wild sage, lemon and alpine rose. This is quite a step up from the “Old Spice” I’ve been using. I am feeling pretty special!

The beautiful magazine that comes with it is full of ideas and suggestions and tips on each item in your box. And it also has some great articles!

They did an interview with Christina Applegate in this magazine. Christina is a breast cancer survivor diagnosed at age 36, and she shares a little about her journey. She took her experience and energy and started a foundation called “Right Action for Women” or RAW and it’s purpose is to build awareness about being at risk for breast cancer, and to help alleviate the costs of advanced breast cancer screening. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, FabFitFun thought she would be an excellent partner for this season’s FabFitFun box.

Also, right in the middle of the magazine is a beautiful post on 50 Ways to be Thankful.

It really is a lovely box, and I look forward to it every time it comes in the mail. The box is so pretty, and I honestly get so happy when I see it on my doorstep! FabFitFun knows you will love their box, so you can order your first one and use the Promo Code WELCOME10 and get $10 off your first box!  Also, they are frequently offering additional specials you can add to your box, it is never a dull moment at FabFitFun!If you would like to subscribe, or to learn more, you can click here: FabFitFun

And now on to this week’s Fashion! I’m loving all the fall fashion, honestly it seems like this year the fashions are extraordinarily beautiful! Some of the trends that I’m seeing are corduroy, mustard yellow anything, suede is strong as ever, camo anything, leopard anything, and I’m enjoying the jogger pants look! If you style them up with some stylish sneakers they are really adorable! I have some I purchased at Loft, and I absolutely love them!

We brought our doggy along, Kasey along! This was the first time we ever took her in the car with us for a photo shoot. She did pretty well! She is a strong dog, (she can pull that leash with the force of a Mack truck!) But Kasey went easy on me, and no slips or falls or injuries for any of us! Win!

So this week, let’s begin with a long blue duster the Kara Cardigan from Evereve.

This is the same sweater I shared last week in red, I loved it so much I bought it in blue as well.

It is so comfortable, so lightweight and soft, it will be my go to sweater for the season. You just can’t lose! I have it paired up with a white tee, my Joe’s Jeans, and my favorite Jeffrey Campbell Boots. This is Amy’s fashion happy place… totally comfortable in this outfit.

Next I tried a Plaid Blazer by Chelsea28. Plaid is having a moment right now, and I love pairing it up with a white tee and denim.

The colors in the plaid are black, white and brown, I love that combination! I wore black boots with a higher blocky heel, I bought mine a few years ago, but here is an adorable sock bootie in black with a great look and heel.

The jacket is just a tad on the small side for me, it is a Large, and it is not available in an XL so I will be returning it. But I have my eye on another plaid jacket to try!

I used my bucket bag which I have been loving, also by Chelsea28. It comes in several colors and is a great price at $49 for such a cute bag!

And finally I have a color block cardigan by Madewell. It has the perfect autumn colors!

I am sorry to say it sold out super fast, but here are 2 more similar stripe cardigans hot off the press: this one with shades of blue and gray by Treasure & Bond for $79, and this one by Caslon in gray and black, also $79.

Now check out this bag, it’s the Medium Bree Leather Satchel by Rebecca Minkoff, and it came in my Trunk Club trunk that arrived the morning of this photo shoot. I fell head over heels for this bag!

It is a gorgeous suede satchel. Swoon! It matches my boots, my sweater and my dog!

But they also sent a lot of other things I loved. Like this necklace I am also showing with this sweater.  The Quinn Hoop Necklace by Gorjana $60. So I have to decide what I will keep. I’m leaning towards some Rebecca Minkoff shoes they also sent (it was a gorgeous trunk- oh cruel fate!) So we will see! But I sure love this bag!

What judge would convict me? It’s like it was meant to be! I think it likes me!

Well, as I was putting this post together, I sat next to my big bay window. I have woods in my backyard. The sun was shining through the trees and you could see the leaves beginning to turn gold, and a few even were falling gently to the ground in the breeze. And my heart was warmed with the familiar cozy feel that always accompanies a splendid Michigan autumn. The trees adorned in splendor begin to gently let go of the beautiful leaves. (I think there is a lesson for me in they way they gently let go) And it literally takes your breath away every year as though somehow it is even more beautiful this year than last. What a gift that we are blessed with these seasons! The birds start rallying making plans for their journey. The squirrels have been busy burying treasures for a day they may need it. And it is as if all at once, summer surrenders and hands the baton to autumn! Isn’t this life a beautiful mystery!

I hope you have a truly lovely weekend!

I’ll be back Tuesday for another Tasty Tuesday!

Love Always,

Amy
