Fashion Friday and Walking With The Trees

Hi Friends! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! The weather officially changed this past week. It is officially “sweater weather”! Woohoo! September has just a few short days left and October will be here on Monday! Which brings up my first thing I want to share!

You’ve heard me mention our women’s exercise group on Facebook here before. Well, we are almost through with the Sizzler September Challenge and are ready to start the Sizzler October Challenge on Monday!  And You are cordially invited!

It’s free! No strings! I promise! We aren’t selling anything! We are all just trying to get a little healthier! It’s all positive encouragement all the time! We have all levels of ability, and you can participate at whatever level works for you. Some ladies post every day and some just post once in awhile, and you don’t have to post at all if you simply want to enjoy the encouragement.

I just keep thinking how nice it will be to go into the holidays with a healthier lifestyle. Not to mention, imagine going into New Year’s Eve this year and you can say that you did incorporate more exercise into your life!

Now on to this week’s fashion.

Many thanks to my son Jake who “shoehorned” in a photoshoot in his very busy college and work schedule. He also plays baseball for his school, and we shot photos right on his campus up until 10 minutes before he needed to be on the field. Thank you Jacob Kennedy! He is studying photo and video, and if you would like to follow him on Instagram, you can find him @jacob.kennedy21  and his business IG @734rocious.

So I don’t know if you have noticed but there are so many really fun jacket styles out this year! This first jacket by Free People is a super soft corduroy in a terracotta color.

I think the sizing is pretty generous. I had purchased it originally in an XL but it was just too big. So I returned it and ordered a Large. But I think I could really use the Medium.

I chose to put it with a black tee, I like the look of the tee hanging below the jacket line.

You can see I am using my Chelsea28 bag again. I will be using this all season long!

Next I am sharing the Dolman Sleeved Ribbed Top by BP in a color they are calling, “Rust Cider”.

The fabric is so soft you won’t want to take it off! It’s a lighter weight fabric which is great this time of year.

The color is perfect for autumn! It is a little bit oversized, so you may want to order a size down. But I like the oversized fit in this piece.

In this next pic, you can see a bit more of the dolman “batwing” to this sweater.

It’s just a really fun sweater to wear!

And finally I wanted to share this Cozychic hooded cardigan by Barefoot Dreams.

So if you have never tried a Barefoot Dreams sweater before, you are in for a treat! It is like the softest most luxurious feeling sweater ever!

It is a no closure sweater, and comes in a host of colors. I feel like every woman should own a jacket or robe from Barefoot Dreams, it is so luxurious!

My bag is the Faux Leather Satchel by Sondra Roberts. I really love this bag! It feels like it has the perfect balance of size, being on trend and functionality! It also comes in red!

Well more trees are beginning to burst forth in glorious color this week! It is so exciting, isn’t it? Change… and we are part of it! It feels good to be experiencing this “miracle” of autumn! You feel it in the crispness of the air, you can see it all around you! You can hear the trees blowing and leaves on the verge of letting go of the trees that brought them into the world. Change can be so exciting!

And doing this journey with people you love and respect, that is the gold in life! I am so grateful for the influence my parents and my husband have had on me. They and my siblings are my first line of defense. I can go to them with anything, and I seek wisdom from them all. I really do feel blessed to have them.

I also have some incredible friends that I can go to when I am trying to know the best course of action for me. Some of my favorite women to connect with have been women in that exercise group I mentioned above (my sisters are in that group too). The women in that group share nuggets of gold I tuck away in the pocket of my heart to help me in the future. I have met other wonderful women in the blogging world, one of which I met for lunch today. We had never met face to face before but I had talked with her about blogging for quite some time online, and when I heard she was visiting in my neck of the woods, well we made a plan to meet. Her name is Melanie  (Hi Melanie! I had a great time today!) And just as I knew from online, she is so incredibly wise and kindhearted. I love to surround myself with people like that who will be a good influence on me.

It reminds me of when I played tennis (I really should get back into that). You always served yourself well if you played someone better than you, because that is the only way to improve. Well its the same in life. If you surround yourself with people that are good, kind, hard working, and wise, guess what? It’s going to begin to rub off on you! And you will see yourself adapting and changing things for the good in your life. And that is very exciting indeed! I thank all of you who have had that very positive impact on me! I don’t want to stay stagnant, I want to keep learning and honing down the rough parts of me to do life a little better every day. Thank you for helping me to grow a little taller by your influence!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

I’ll be back Tuesday for another Tasty Tuesday!

Love Always,

Amy

    1. Yay! I hope you get that new sweater and share a picture of it! Thank you for the nice words about the orange colors! I don’t have much orange in my closet (to be honest, I don’t think I have seen a lot of orange out there but there is definitely more this year)

  1. I joined your group 🙂 it’s a really really great idea and I’m sure it will help to motivate me and a lot of people. Also the fashions are lovely, especially the jacket. Great post 🙂
