Tasty Tuesday, Tex-Mex and Taco Seasoning

Hi friends! It’s a Tasty Tuesday, and today we have a recipe for homemade taco seasoning, and a few recipes with a Tex-Mex flavor. We love Tex-Mex food in our house!

We love trying new foods, and we also love keeping things easy. So today we are sharing an easy recipe for taco seasoning that you can make and use just like you would use the taco seasoning packets you get at the grocery store. We also made a taco bake using the taco seasoning, and some salsa and guacamole too. Let’s just say “Dinner was very popular this evening!”

Many thanks to Troy who helped me prepare the dinner, and because he had these beautiful flowers delivered to me today, what a nice surprise!

So this recipe below is for the Taco Seasoning. I will link the taco bake, guacamole and salsa recipes further below. And for now, let’s begin!

Ingredients:

  • 4 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp Adobo seasoning
  • 4 Tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper

In a small bowl, add the chili powder (isn’t that color beautiful?)

Add in all the other seasonings.

Stir together.

Store in an airtight container.

Use 1-2 Tbsp of seasoning per pound of meat. When cooking with the seasoning, add 1/2-3/4  cup water and simmer.

*Please note you can adjust/substitute or eliminate any of the ingredients to taste. If you don’t like red pepper flakes, just eliminate them. If you like things really spicy, you can double the cayenne or red pepper flakes. This is a super flexible recipe to your taste.

We used this taco seasoning in a taco bake this evening. If you would like the recipe for this taco bake, click here: Taco Bake

We also made guacamole, such an easy no fail recipe! If you would like the recipe for guacamole, click here: guacamole

We also have a recipe for salsa here as well: salsa

I love learning to make things like this taco seasoning at home! I love how it is customizable to your taste! I still like the taco seasonings that come in a packet, they are so convenient. But I think you will find the taste of this is so fresh and bright! Perfect to flavor all sorts of Tex-Mex dishes!

There is so much to love about Tex-Mex food! There is just so much flavor! It’s bright and colorful, kind of like a party! It bids you celebrate life as you are enjoying the food! Isn’t that just a great idea? At the end of a day, with your dear ones around you to just throw a little party over dinner! Goodness gracious it is springtime and that right there is worth celebrating! Every day really is worth celebrating!

I hope you have a fantastic week! I’ll be back Friday for another post!

Love always,

Amy

    1. Thank you, Lisa! I’ve always loved cooking but nothing too complicated. This taco seasoning is really tasty and nice to have on hand! And you can tailor it to what you like! Spicier or less spicy however you like it!

  2. This looks so delicious, Amy and your table setting is just beautiful! Like you, we are huge fans of Mexican (and really most ethnic foods) in our household.
