Fashion Friday – Where Your Heart Is

It’s Friday! Yass!

I’m ready to relax and kick back, and have some fun! And I hope you will join me! Of course its a Fashion Friday, and that means Fun! Fun! Fun! So lets not waste another moment!

Now this week my son Jake took the pictures, and I want to thank him for his help. We always have a blast when we take pictures. And this week was no exception!

So without further ado, lets begin!

To start with, I have a new tee that I just love, and a new jacket, too!

The Jacket is the  Gibson Tie Sleeve Knit Blazer from Nordstrom, only $79!

The jacket has these adorable tie details on the sleeves, and is super comfortable!

Its an updated look that transitions beautifully from the office to evenings! I am really going to enjoy this jacket! It comes in several colors as well! I have been noticing lately the trend for using statement tees with a slightly dressy jacket you might put with a skirt of nice slacks. So I thought I would give it a go with my new tee!

The Tee is something I fell head over heels for! Its a statement tee from Evereve, “I believe in Red Lipstick!” Boy I sure do! I know wearing lipstick is not for everyone, especially red lipstick, but oh how I love it! I remember when I was little, watching my Mama get ready for a dinner date with my father. She would put on the prettiest lipstick, and then she would blot it. And in my heart I was thinking, “Oh Mama, you look so pretty with that lipstick, please don’t blot it!” That should have been a clue… I like bright lipstick! Especially Red Lipstick!

Red lipstick is bold! It steps into life with a bright declaration of “We got this!”

Red lipstick is not only bold, its a timeless classic! It’s fun and fresh and well, frankly my dear, I love it! Sorry, I could not resist!

And then I have this floral blouse, named “Lucille” (I love it!)

It actually was softly snowing while we took the photos, so these cheerful flowers are a breath of springtime when we can really use it!

I put a white v-neck tee under this blouse, (it was cold out, I needed it!)  but it would be really cute tied in front too!

We actually were going to look for a pretty outdoor place for this shoot, but it was so chilly, and we drove by this cute little market and  coffee shop in Ann Arbor, Argus Farm Stop,  and Jake said, “I’ll bet they have really good coffee and treats!”

And he was right! We split a couple of pastries and brought home a treat bag with what we couldn’t finish.

They sell produce, meats and dairy from local farmers within 5-20 miles from the market! And the honey they put in my tea was from a local bee farm! Sweet!

Our little repas was over, and we hated to leave the friendly vibes at this warm and toasty cafe, but we had more stops to make!

Time to go! I love pictures like this, I wonder who that dear lady is outside walking. I hope she is having a lovely weekend!

And finally I have this awesome tee which is part of a new campaign from Chicos, #HowBoldAreYou?

My tee says “56 Years Bold”, yes, that is my age. Duh! Duh! Duh! Gasp!

Chicos is encouraging women to embrace life and grow “Bold”! I love that! They have an assortment of tees with ages and a few with simply declarative statements. And they are committed to this philosophy throughout their company, not a “one-and-done” campaign.

We are in Nickels Arcade in Ann Arbor here, a place near and dear to my heart. I went to college here many years ago. And sometimes I would slip away to this lovely shopping oasis on a cold night for a little break from studying.

Look! There’s a chair for you! Come join me! I’ve got 3 macarons… but you better hurry!

Those little tasty treats, Jake and I shared them. The pink was my favorite! Strawberry!

Well my friend, its time to wrap this Fashion Friday up and put it in the books! I loved every minute of this edition. You know why? Because life is a beautiful thing no matter what age or stage. The world is our oyster! Its up to us to find the pearls! Life is just begging us to come on out and Live! Its all about where your heart is, if you can open the floodgates to live and love and laugh, to dare to walk boldly and confidently on this amazing journey!

You not only have great things to bring to the banquet table of life, but you have incredible delicious things that you can partake of! Isn’t that such an amazing and wonderful thought? This life is for all of us, no restrictions for all of our days! Its a gift and its for us to enjoy! You are perfect and beautiful and creative and worthy of being truly happy! So I hope you will take every day and chase that sun and fill it with laughter and discovery and adventure! And always share it with any pilgrims you meet, we are all here at this time together for a reason, and its a very good purpose and a very good plan!

Have a fantastic weekend, my friend!

I’ll be back Tuesday for another Tasty Tuesday!

Love Always,

Amy

    1. I so agree, Jodie! Its almost surreal! A lot of my photos for this post were taken in Ann Arbor where I went to college a million years ago. Very nostalgic to sit and sip a cup of coffee while students are walking by just starting their journey!

  2. Amy, I love everything about this post. Your positivity shines through in your words and beautiful photos. How fun that your son took your photos. And that tshirt – I’m off to order one right now! Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you so much! He is helping me a bit this afternoon with some cooking shots. It is really nice to work with him. His goal is to work in video/film some day. He is going to school for it 🙂

  3. I enjoyed reading your post, Amy! It is beautifully written and I love your positive attitude on your age and on life in general. You look younger than your age by the way and I love the photos. I am 43 and I have embraced it…I even wrote an article ‘Age is just a number’ because it is indeed just a number! Thanks for sharing

    1. Thank you so much, Dee! I love your blog, you are a powerful and inspiring writer! I agree totally with your idea of embracing this day and every day… and that “Age is just a number”! Thank you for your thoughtful words and have a fantastic week!

      1. You are very welcome! Oh wow! Never in wildest dreams did I ever consider myself a writer let alone a powerful and inspiring writer! This just warms my heart! Thank you so much for being one of my top support. Your love and support is appreciated. God bless you! Have a great week too!

  4. Loved that tee with your age on it! I’m turning 70 next month! Where can I get one of those?

    1. Margaret you are the coolest of the coolest! You can get those via Chicos online, and they are 30% off right now! Use Promo Code 79537 Just go to Chicos.com and search under “Age Tee” and they bring up all the different ones to choose from 🙂 Early happy birthday my friend!

    1. Oh thank you, Shayla! I am trying to hone those fashion skills! So I am glad you liked them! Honestly, the lady at Evereve clued me in on the floral shirt and tee… they are amazing at their customer service 🙂 She brought me back 3 different ones to try. Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

  5. What a fun shoot! And so great that you got to spend it with your son. I love the “I Believe in Red Lipstick” Tee! I have to admit that I’ve never been brave enough to wear red lipstick (I’m not really a makeup wearer). When I get my make up done, they always put me in pink!

    1. I bet you would rock red lipstick! But I know its not everybody’s thing. I heard in the 60’s and 70’s, the pale lipsticks were in style to draw attention to the eyes. Its all so fascinating! And now you see pretty much every kind of style out there! I like that! Then everyone can be comfortable no matter how much or little makeup they like! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

  6. I love the scenery in your pictures and the red lipstick tee has to be my fav! I have so many different shades of red in my collection. I just can’t get enough!
