Fashion Friday Sales, Holiday Fun and Taking Time to Breathe

Oh Yes! The Weekend is Finally Here!

Don’t you love that feeling? It feels like when I was a kid in school, and it was the last day before winter break… nothing else like it! Because we are free to do what ever we want! Yowza! Can you tell I’m just a little excited?

Well, lots to cover, but first I want to thank my son Jake Kennedy for the photos this week. He has so much on his plate right now, and yet he somehow shoe horns in a time we can take some photos because he knows how much I love this blogging adventure! Jake is studying photography and video, and I am so excited for his future! If you would like to follow him, you can find him on Instagram @jacob.kennedy21.

Sizzler Challenge Facebook Group:

So our exercise group is on fire! I kid you not! Something is going on in that group, maybe it’s in the air, I dunno! But there is a healthy lifestyle revival going on and you are invited!

I started this group last March because, well… I need the encouragement! I just discovered a hole in my jeans and I am not buying another pair at this size! No no no! The gauntlet has been thrown down!

Honestly we really have so much fun in our group, we have women at all levels of fitness (pretty much everyone is running laps around me, hah!). Women from all over the country and the world!

We want you to join us too! This group is for ladies on Facebook, and we all just have fun encouraging each other by trying to get in some form of activity each day and share with the group what you did. Some ladies post every day, some just once in awhile. Whatever works for you. The point is we are trying to get a little bit healthier. All positive, no pressure. Just fun!

It’s totally free! No strings! Pinky promise!

A Few of My Favorite Things

The last several weeks, I’ve been doing a component in my blog called “A Few of My Favorite Things” where I interview people who are influencers in all walks of life. I have loved doing it and have gotten great feedback on these interviews! I’m taking a break for the next few weeks, and have the next one scheduled for later in December and then several in January. I’m so excited to share lots more truly amazing people with you in the upcoming year! It’s such a privilege!

And now, on to this week’s fashion!

When I saw this scarf, it was so bright and colorful and fun, I knew it was a done deal! I’m a sucker for “bright and colorful and fun”! Scarf Scarf Scarf Scarf

This scarf is by Verloop Knits, a company based out of New York. I purchased it through Nordstrom, but you can also purchase it through Anthropologie, or directly from the company.

The scarf is 88″ long and 18″ wide! Now that is at least double the fabric I normally get in a scarf!

The knitting is so solid and dense in this scarf, it’s like “mega muffler”!

It was freezing the day we did these pictures. While he was shooting the pics, my son helped adjust it for me, and he was saying, “Wow, Mom, when we go on to the next outfit can I use this scarf? It’s so warm!” So of course I said yes! And there was my 6’2″ son wearing this bright colorful scarf! It blessed me to see him in it! So it is now a community scarf, and anyone in the family can use it! You can too, if you come over!

The sweater I’m wearing is a super cozy Urban Flossy Cowl Neck Sweater from French Connection, Regularly $138, on sale for $82.80.

It comes in 4 colors, but this “Mars Red” is just the berries! Have I ever told you I love red?

And the bag I am carrying is a Faux Leather Satchel by Sondra Roberts. They just sold out of the black, but it now comes in a gorgeous cobalt blue and also in a pewter gray.

Honestly, what a fun outfit! How could you not smile wearing a scarf like that?

Speaking of fun, check out this next item! A cape trimmed in faux leopard fur!

Leopard Print Faux Fur and Fleece Cape reg $98 on sale $51.45! Use Code FRIEND

Kasey got in on this one! Doesn’t she look like the picture of the obedient faithful companion?

It doesn’t always work that way.

She has her own set of ideas about how the shoot should go.

Sometimes, honestly, we resort to bribery. Whatever it takes!

Saying “Cheese” has a totally different meaning for the two of us!

I’m wearing black jeans with it here, but wouldn’t it be adorable with leggings? I have a few pounds to go before that happens, Hah! But my Sizzler group is helping!

Well, it now feels like the Christmas hustle and bustle are really here! And between wanting to have your house trimmed like a Currier and Ives card but the lights on your prelit tree quit working, and trying to buy the absolutely perfect gift for everyone on a shoestring budget, it can be, well, a little stressful! And then add in baking while you are on a diet, and Christmas cards, and trying to find the perfect sweater… (with the fear someone will mistakenly think you bought it for an ugly Christmas sweater contest- yes that has happened to me! Only once though!). And maybe you said yes to everything this year, and you are so overbooked you will be starting your shopping at 10pm Christmas Eve…

Sometimes you have to just step back, have a little chuckle, (or fall down on the floor laughing your head off!) and just breathe… deep cleansing breaths. And be calm. Let the calm fall on you like the snowflakes.

Transport yourself for a moment to that Silent Night, and two young people divinely appointed but not knowing why… alone, in a stable with maybe a few sheep, and the birth of a baby so precious, and yet so vulnerable, and they wrap Him in swaddling clothes and lay Him in a manger. Imagine their thoughts as they looked at this baby by the light of a lantern! Did they fear they might fall short of such a precious calling? And yet, they were never truly alone not for a single moment. And neither are we. Let that comfort wrap around your shoulders and warm your heart, and move the tasks of the season aside for a moment and make room in your heart for the real meaning of Christmas. And declare with a deep breath, “Joy to the World, the Lord is come!”

Have a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back Tuesday for another Tasty Tuesday!

Love Always,

Amy

“Joy to the world, the Lord is come; Let earth receive her king. Let every heart prepare Him room. And Heaven and nature sing, and Heaven and nature sing, and Heaven and Heaven and nature sing!”    ~Isaac Watts

  1. I am such a scarf nut…I have more scarves than anything else!

And I so adore that cape, Amy!!! Wow.

I have learned over the years to let go of the whole crazy Christmas bustle. It’s just not what it’s all about. We are low key and don’t even exchange gifts anymore.

  2. Love your cape! Starting last year, I told my family not to send us Christmas presents anymore, and now I only get gifts for my nephews and my boyfriend. It means much less stress for everyone.
