Good morning! Its another fabulous Tasty Tuesday!
Can you believe its already the 8th month of the year? Well lets make it awesome!
First of all I must thank my world class photographer and dear friend Maribeth Schmidt! She does all my photography for my food blog posts and she is amazing! You can visit her site and make an inquiry at Maribeth Schmidt Photography.
To kick it off, today I have a super rich and decadent dessert fit for a king! Turtle pie… oh my! I have to apologize right now because this dessert is so awesome, so delicious, so rich and fabulous its probably going to be in your mind until you have it on your plate! Its the kind of dessert where people take one bite and they can’t believe you went there. Its a special dessert. And its easy as pie! So lets get started!
Ingredients:
- 20 Oreo Cookies, Crushed
- ¼ c melted butter
- 1 Pt ice cream softened
- 1 bag mini morsel chocolate chips
- 1 bottle Hershey’s Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
- 1 4 oz package chopped pecans
- 1 small jar caramel topping
- 1 small jar fudge topping
- 1 8 oz container whipped topping
Making the Crust:
Count out your 20 Oreo cookies… what a happy task! Place them in a large ziplock bag and with a rolling pin or heavy plate, crush them till they are crumbly and no super large chunks. In a small frying pan, melt 1/4 cup of butter, and add in your crushed cookie crumbs.
This produces one of the most heavenly aromas ever! Take a moment to enjoy it! Toss the crumbs around until they are all shiny and glossy. Let them coat and simmer for maybe 2 -3 minutes tossing gently. Pour the crumbs into a 9″ pie plate and press gently in place making a crust. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 minutes. Allow it to cool thoroughly.
Next, place your ice cream in a bowl, and stir in about 2/3 of the pecans and 1 cup of the chocolate chips. Gently scoop into the pie shell, and using a spoon, press the ice cream in place trying not to break up the Oreo crust.
Pour a layer of the caramel over the top of the ice cream. Freeze for about 20 minutes. Pour a layer of the fudge topping over the caramel. Freeze for about 20 minutes. Add on a nice fluffy layer of the Cool Whip (I use the entire container). Now comes the really fun part. Sprinkle with additional nuts and chocolate chips. Drizzle with a little additional caramel topping. Drizzle with the Magic Shell Chocolate Topping. Then freeze until ready to serve.
This is one of those desserts that is literally heavy in weight. It is a sign. This is not a dessert to be trifled with. This is a serious dessert. It is truly special, and it tells your loved ones that you think they are special too!
You will need a little muscle to cut into it. You are cutting through frozen ice cream and nuts and chocolate chips and cookies.
Your dessert plate will feel heavy in your hands. Its ok. In fact its more than ok… go for it! No regrets.
Do you remember when Wilma Flintstone would put Fred’s dinner on his plate and it would be like a giant brontosaurus steak? That is the kind of dessert this is. And its absolutely exquisite!
This is the kind of dessert that causes a hush in the room. Its a whole new level of dessert. A league of its own. Its so much fun to totally bless the socks off people with a treat like this! Ice cream is one of those amazing comfort foods… but put it so beautifully with Oreos and nuts and caramel and chocolate chips and fudge… well, its decadent!
I hope you and your family/friends love it!
I hope your day and week are as rich with beautiful exquisite things as this Turtle Pie is! You are worth it! Next time you look in that mirror, take a moment to marvel at the person you see! Marvel at your heart that beats over 42 million times a year! At your eyes that are like a mini miracle receiving signals and transmitting them to your brain so you can gasp at the glory of a sunset! At your mind that can process the words on this page, and come up with thoughts that only you could create! At your heart that leaps with love for those who are special in your life! And then know that you are a one of a kind and no one else will ever be exactly like you… and you are created that way on purpose! You have so much to offer this world that no one else can! You are simply amazing! And I for one am dazzled by you!
Have a great week! I will be back Friday for a Fashion Friday!
Love Always,
Amy

You are right about that!
The pictures and narrative are excellent but do not fully capture how awesomely delicious this dessert truly is. Yes, I may be deemed biased, but I have had this dessert so just maybe I’m not. Awesome good!
All true… he has had it! He does love it! My husband and cohort in the kitchen, a very fine cook in your own right, Troy!
Thank you for sharing. I will try this. Look forward to your next post on here.

Looks absolutely scrumptious!
It is, trust me! I need to make another one. I got requests yesterday here at home!
Oh my! I’m sure I could feel the pounds packing on just from the pictures! I’m glad I worked out before I read it, lol!
That’s what I need to do!
