Tasty Tuesday and Hot Fudge Hokey Pokey Cake

Welcome back to another Tasty Tuesday! I’m so glad you’re here! Today’s recipe is decadent, rich, ooey gooey chocolatey Hot Fudge Hokey Pokey Cake! And guess what? Its super easy to make! I promise!

Many thanks to my sweet photographer, Maribeth Schmidt! Maribeth is an amazing photographer, and she truly loves photographing food! There is such an art to it, and Maribeth is an amazingly talented woman! I cook and she clicks! If you would like to see more of her incredible work, or for an inquiry, you can find her at Maribeth Schmidt Photography.

This is a potluck prize winner, and its been done in all sorts of variations (oh what a happy goal to try each and every one of them!) But ours today is pretty simple, and straight forward. So without further ado, lets begin!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Devil’s Food chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil and water to package directions
  • 1 jar Hershey’s Hot Fudge Sauce
  • 1 can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 small tub Cool Whip
  • Vanilla Ice Cream (optional)

Mix Cake Mix according to package directions

Pour into 9×13 pan sprayed with cooking spray, and bake according to cake mix directions.

When cake is done, allow it to cool 20 minutes. Here is where it gets interesting. Using the handle end of a wooden or plastic spoon, poke holes in the top of the cake surface.

Something tells me we’re not in Kansas anymore!

The first time I did this, it felt like I was destroying a perfectly good cake, but oh no, you are creating a cake that is “Off the chain!” and the holes are marching you right into flavor town! Kind of looks like craters on the moon!

Now, take your Sweetened Condensed Milk, and slowly begin to drizzle it into the holes of the cake. Its ok if it spills on top of the cake, but try and drizzle some in each and every hole.

I trickle it in pretty slowly so I can take advantage of each little crater.

Sometimes it takes a little bit for it to soak in… use the entire can. Next, remove lid and heat the hot fudge sauce in your microwave, and then stir. Carefully begin repeating the drizzle process into the cake holes using the hot fudge sauce.

The hot fudge sauce is now mixing with the sweetened condensed milk…

Its a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it!

Chill for at least an hour, and then frost with Cool Whip. Chill until ready to serve. Who wants cake?

I do! I do!

Something happens when you start with Devils Food, and poke it like Swiss Cheese, and then drown it in Sweetened Condensed Milk and Hot Fudge. Its indulgent, its decadent…

Its a “Go Big or Go Home” kind of dessert, You could switch or add carmel topping as one of the fillers for the craters in the cake. Yep, I may go there with this cake next time!

Its the kind of dessert that lets people know you don’t mess around.

Its intense… Quick, I need some coffee to go with this plate of chocolate madness!

Help me, Rhonda! Help Help me Rhonda!

With a cake like this, you simply don’t think about calories… this is big league! No Regrets! And it really is a very simple cake to make! Soon every person in town is going to want you to bring this to their next potluck!

This cake is bold. It takes a back seat to no other! And neither should you! Dream Big, my friend! There will always be naysayers and non believers trying to take the wind out of your sails, but don’t let them! Whatever your dream is! Maybe its a trip you want to take! Or starting a brand new interest or career! Or writing a book!

I love the stories of people who would not give up on their dreams when time after time they met rejection! Walt Disney is such a great example, he got fired from a newspaper job because they said he didn’t have enough imagination! Or dear Colonel Sanders who started out with his dream of a chicken franchise at age 65, and got over 1,000 rejections… but it only took 1 yes! That is bold! That is Hot Fudge Hokey Pokey Cake Bold! No expiration on those dreams, my friend! If you’ve got air in your lungs, you have a dream that has the potential to become your reality! Come on! Let’s do this!

Boom!

I hope you enjoy this decadent recipe! I hope you have fun with it! These are the days for your bold ideas! Lets make those dreams come true!

I’ll be back Friday for another Fashion Friday! Have a great week!

Love Always,

Amy
