Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! I have a super easy and light recipe to share with you today! It’s kind of a salad, kind of a dessert and oh so nice to see as an option on the dinner table! I’ve heard it called “Pink Fluff” and I have heard it called “Pink Lady Salad” or just “Fluff”. There are lots of variations of it out there (I think every single one of them is awesome!) But we are keeping it simple today with just 4 ingredients. This is so nice because you can make and serve it in the same bowl. It goes together super fast and is a lovely side to offer with your meal.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz container of Cool Whip
- 16 oz container of Cottage Cheese
- 3 oz box of Jello (we chose strawberry)
- 1 can of fruit, drained (we chose crushed pineapple)
Take a large bowl and add your cottage cheese. Sprinkle the gelatin over it.
Using a spoon or rubber spatula, mix them together.
Keep stirring to try and spread that sweet jello and pretty color throughout the cottage cheese.
Now drain the fruit really well, and add it to the mixture. I like the crushed pineapple as the fruit is in such fine small pieces, it allows the salad to remain “fluffy”.
Now add in . your Cool Whip and fold it through the salad.
Now refrigerate to really chill it through. An hour or more would be fine.
I think it’s ready! Let’s pull those pretty fancy dessert cups out of the cupboard!
Scoop in some “Fluff”.
Garnish with some sliced strawberries.
Pardon me while I drool on the keyboard!
Or you could add a dollop of additional Cool Whip!
Yes, that is a great idea! Let’s make it a double! Does it feel like we are being watched?
There, that is pretty!
Now for another spin on this, do you see that angel food cake in the background?
You can serve a slice of that angel food cake with a little fluff and some Cool Whip. Yep. It’s fantastic and oh so easy!
There are so many variations on this salad. You can change the Jello flavor and fruit to any you like. It does not have to be pink. You could use orange jello and either pineapple for the fruit or mandarin orange slices (or both!). You could toss in mini marshmallows. Many recipes call for stirring in a can of cherry pie filling as well, this makes it a bit creamier and sweeter. Last night in honor of it being “Election Tuesday” today, we voted on the Jello flavor. Strawberry won hands down, no competition.
My friend Crystal makes a variation of this for her family, and brought it over the years to so many of our church functions. We served together on a team for maybe ten years or more, and everyone always requested Crystal to bring the “Pink Fluff”! They also requested Kayla’s Pretzel Salad. Those are some fun memories!
The point is that it is an easy, fast way to get a tasty treat on your table. This would be lovely as a side dish for Thanksgiving as well, with very little effort.
Want to know a secret? I do not care for cottage cheese. Never have. But the cottage cheese absorbs the flavor of the Jello and transforms it to something even I can “vote for”.
Making memories and new traditions does not have to be hard. It’s about simply enjoying life! Dressing it up a bit with lovely little things that bless you and those you love. Even pulling out some of those pretty dishes you save for more fancy formal dinners. What if we used even every day times to bring out the pretty things?
It’s like adding the decorations on a tree at Christmas, or putting the bow on a gift. The little extra things we do are like an extra kiss on your child’s forehead before you send them off to school. Or saying to your friend, “Let me buy you coffee today”. It says, “You are precious to me, and I just want to make sure you know it!”
And quite honestly, I am so thankful for you, my friend! It blesses me to no end to get to visit this way and share the “dish” on recipes and life! I hope someone spoils you a little bit today, and I hope you can find a way to add a little something extra for the ones you love! Pink fluff might be just the ticket!
Have a fantastic Tuesday! I’ll be back Friday for another Fashion Friday!
Love Always,
Amy

This is something I totally grew up eating. I’ve tried to cut back on my sweets in the last 10 years, but this might work!!

I agree, it’s not quite as sweet as many others. It is pretty tasty! Thanks for stopping by!
I love these old family tradition recipes Amy. We have “24 hour fruit salad” as our all time favorite holiday side dish. It’s packed full of sugar and fat from heavy whipping cream and it’s delicious!!
That sounds perfect! Wouldn’t it be fun if we had a potluck sometime? Goodness that would be fun!
My mom used to make the orange version of this – I’d forgotten about that until I saw your post. And I agree about using the pretty things more often. When my grandmother passed away, I inherited her set of silver. We don’t use the silver very often, but I do use one of her silver spoons almost every morning to eat my cereal or oatmeal.
I have my grandma’s measuring spoons, and I think of her every time I use them. She passed when my son was 2, he is 27 now. Those are precious keepsakes, aren’t they?
